The Notre Dame varsity baseball team is set to participate in the Boras Classic, starting this Tuesday. The Knights will kick off the tournament against San Dimas at 3:00 PM.
The Boras Classic is a showcase of some of the best talent in Southern California, as many of the teams are ranked top 25 in the state. The Knights are a part of a 16-team bracket which also includes, Orange Lutheran, JSerra, Mater Dei, Aquinas, Corona, Cypress, Etiwanda, Huntington Beach, La Mirada, Maranatha, Norco, San Dimas, Santa Margarita, Santiago and Villa Park.
Last season, the Knights beat Huntington Beach in the quarter finals of the CIF Southern Section playoffs, and then beat Orange Lutheran in the semifinals. Notre Dame fell to JSerra in the championship game at Cal State Fullerton.
The Knights head to the Boras Classic ranked No. 1 in the state of California, according to MaxPreps. Notre Dame is 16-2 on the season, which includes two impressive league sweeps over Harvard-Westlake and Sierra Canyon, holding down the No.1 spot in the Mission League.
Notre Dame will play San Dimas in game three of the tournament. The game will be played at JSerra High School. The winner of game three will play the winner of game four; JSerra or Etiwanda. The championship game will be held on April 14 at 6:00 PM at JSerra High School.
