The Notre Dame High School baseball team is set to participate in the Boras Classic, starting this Tuesday. The Knights will kick off the tournament against Corona.
The Boras Classic is held once every year in California and Arizona. The Southern California bracket includes the Knights, San Dimas, JSerra, St. Augustine, Foothill, La Mirada, Sierra Canyon, ML King, Orange Lutheran, Servite, Villa Park, Yucaipa, Huntington Beach, Corona, Point Loma and Mater Dei.
The Knights head to the Boras Classic 17-5-1 on the season and No. 1 in the Mission League, after going 14-3-1 in league play. Notre Dame most recently won its series against Loyola, 2-1.
The Boras Classic will be hosted by JSerra and Mater Dei, while several of the teams participating in the tournament are ranked top 25 in the state. Sierra Canyon has an undefeated 20-0 record at the Boras Classic.
Notre Dame will play Corona in game seven of the tournament on Tuesday, April 19 at 3:00 PM. The game will be played at Mater Dei High School. The winner of game seven will play the winner of game eight; Point Loma or Mater Dei. The championship game will be held on April 22 at 6:00 PM at Mater Dei.
Tickets will be sold at the gate; general admission is $10, student tickets are $7 and senior tickets will be $5.
